First off, a big thank you! [livejournal.com profile] may_child, thank you for the card and the gift certificate, which I'm still trying to convince Ann to use a part of! [livejournal.com profile] lastwordslinger, thank you for the package, the doodads and action figures and card; I joked with Ann about getting her White Witch figure and recreating the scene from Prince Caspian where Edmund pwns Peter, Caspian and Jadis, ahahahaha! And you have no idea how hard it is to find a Spalko figure and you send me a set with her and Mutt and Indy?! [livejournal.com profile] musetrax, thank you for the gift of fic! Hugs! [livejournal.com profile] rohajavongareth, for the beautiful vgift! [livejournal.com profile] dreamybritactor, for the lovely e-card! [livejournal.com profile] moetushie for the card and the gift of a Christmas zombie! To quote Futurama, "Sweet zombie Jesus!" [livejournal.com profile] writeangel1, for my drop-dead gorgeous Arthur/Gwen/Lancelot fanvid!

You all made my season that much brighter. Actually, all my flist did by being the marvelous lovelies you all are! Huge hugs! [livejournal.com profile] venckman, your Christmas posts were the very epitome of seasonal excellence!

As for my own day, I'm going to cut this into two parts, because one gets kind of RL TMI perhaps for some, heh.

Christmas Eve celebrations! )

And then, there was the next day, when things were a bit more eventful...

A few Christmas Eve songs )

And some holiday fun! Try the Holiday Character Personality Test (which unfortunately doesn't let you post your results to LJ, grr!) I got Cindy Lou Who from The Grinch, took it a second time and got The Old Man from A Christmas Story. Both are accurate in weird ways!

A Christmas Story is my all-time favorite; there's just nothing that says Christmas to me more than that movie, perhaps because it reminds me so much of my own Christmases as a child, and not just the content but the way it looks and the feeling in it. Mystery Science Theater 3000: Santa Claus Conquers the Martians is another seasonal fave, and though i do adore their Santa Claus, too (better movie, IMO) I just like Joel better than Mike and the host segements are much better in the former. As for specials, you can't get much sweeter than Rocko's Modern Christmas or more hilarious than The Vicar of Dibley's "Christmas Lunch" or "Blackadder's Christmas Carol."

Ones I can't stand? Probably the horrendous abomination that is the Jim Carrey live-action Grinch Who Stole Christmas, though, thankfully, it doesn't seem to be getting much airtime this year.

I love Emmy, and I love this version of the song because she gives it that same ethereal quality she uses in all her music.

By the way, I might not be a round for a little while. I haven't talekd about it much, but my computer's been totally infested with about a zillion viruses and I've spent the past week or so frantically backing everything up so I can finally stick the recovery discs in and "ghost" the demmed thing. so, my dearies, I should be back soon but for now farewell!

This was so popular in my household as a child, that the cat we got only a few days before Christmas was named Major Tom by my brother; both he and my sister were massive Bowie fans. Just a little slice of Starkiller nostalgia for ya!

Okay, so i collected a few songs that each really deserved their own day and next year I'll probably start at the beginning of Decemberinstead of with two weeks notice, but these deserved to get posted, so they're going to get thrown together for a giggle!

Enjoy! )

And an almost-feature presentation, written by Richard Ayoade and Matt Berry, starring Julian Barrett and Julia Davis as well as Ayoade and Berry, and every one of their friends you can possibly imagine.

This is perhaps a little known fact, but I am actually Wiccan. Well, Wiccan/Episcopalian because that was how I was raised, the latter part, and it was loving and beautiful and I've found it very difficult to give up entirely. I'm not posting to go into my religious beliefs but to say Merry Winter Solstice, have a cool Yule, my friends! And this song also seems appropriate for all of my friends on the eastern coast just north of here! Hugs!

Okay, this one is a bit rough, but it made me laugh hysterically when I first heard it (many a moon ago, my friends!) Enjoy! And remember, only five shopping days left!

I love, love, love how this song really bashes through the boundaries of familiarity and language and just sounds like Christmas!

And, for the final night of Hanukkah, The Adam Sandler classic... )

I adore this, not only because it's a traditional hymn that never really made it big Stateside, but because Sting's version is so unique (and uniquely 80s, LOL!) and really beautiful!

ETA: The interpretive video isn't mine, but was the nicest I could find set to the song, though a bit, er... yeah. :-P
