Another night of giving the gift of seasonal music!

This time, Loreena McKennitt's God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, a lovely and haunting rendition with a Middle Eastern twist to it.

Peace, Ghani

Ooohh, fellow Loreena fan checking in!

This has been one of my faves for over 10 years -- when I first started getting into Loreena because of her song "The Mummers' Dance," and I collected her other albums. I love both her Christmas albums -- especially "To Drive the Cold Winter Away," as you know, because of the echo-y sound.

I also like "Good King Wenceslas" on her "A Winter's Garden" album. "Snow" is also a song on that album, I but I vastly prefer the version on "To Drive the Cold Winter Away." That version is one of the most beautiful songs I've every heard.

Have you heard A Midwinter's Night Dream? It's her new Christmas album and it kind of absorbs A Winter's Garden and adds new tracks to make it full length. Some very lovely stuff.

I really wanted to post "In Praise of Christmas" because that is one of the loveliest I've ever heard but sadly YouTube kind of let me down on the Loreena front, sighs!

No, I haven't heard that album, but I plan to pick it up ASAP.
