I know I have quite a few of these 'repost in your own journal' to catch up with, and I really am trying, I'm just very, very behind and feeling rather meh lately. Oh, and if you ask for questions, be aware that I'm rather crap at coming up with them, lol!

1. Leave me a comment saying anything random, like your favorite lyric to your current favorite song.
2. I respond by asking you five personal questions so I can get to know you better.
3. You will update your LJ with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and offer to ask someone else in the post.
5. When others comment asking to be asked, you will ask them five questions.

Questions given to me by [livejournal.com profile] lastwordslinger:

1. If you were aboard the Enterprise, what would be your dream job there and why?
Hm, interesting. There's no Dabo aboard Enterprise, so I couldn't be a Dabo girl, lol! I'd call that most likely. But because I'm not really one for the martial lifestyle, or very strong in the hard sciences like engineering, I don't think I'd be a Starfleet officer. Perhaps a civilian scientist then; I love archeology and anthropology and just imagine studying different cultures on completely foreign planets with absolutely no ties or connections to human civilization. Now imagine studying alien civilizations that have been extinct since the time of the dinosaurs on Earth! Yeah, that'd be pretty awesome, to say the least!

2. What precisely about ghost stories intrigues you so much?
Wow, another difficult one. I actually don't have a clear answer for this, other than that it is human nature to be fascinated with what scares us most. I guess it hearkens to my interest in real life askew, if that makes sense; ordinary people and situations taken to bizarre extremes. And there's also my interest in history, which ghost stories can definitely draw on. But I think it's the psychology behind it all that really grabs me; I think one can gather an idea of family dynamics and dysfunctions very quickly, and those make the best fiction stories, like The Shining and The Haunting of Hill House. Most of all, I like the scare of decay, of those tingly feelings that tell you you're being watched from the shadows!

3. What is your all-time favorite comic book series/mini-series?
Garth Ennis' The Punisher, the Marvel Knights series which ran through 2001-2004, specifically the story arcs Welcome Back, Frank, which the Thomas Jane movie was based on, and Confederacy of Dunces because it is so hilarious and awesome to see Daredevil, Spider-Man and Wolverine band together to try to get Frank back for the transgresses against them throughout the series, ranging from the flippant to the truly psychologically damaging. Special guest star in that one, too, that, when he was revealed, made me laugh so hard, I thought I was going to pee myself! Special mention goes to Joss Whedon's run on Astonishing X-Men.

4. Where is the coolest place you feel like you've ever been?
Athens, Greece. I can't even explain what it was like, walking among the ruins; you get such an odd sense of... yourself, and the world around you. There was one day we visited the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, and the sky was bright blue, it was a cool spring day and it was... like being transferred to a different time and place, not necessarily the past but... elsewhere. That we were able to stay in my great aunt's apartment in old town and not in a hotel just made it more magical. At night we walked over to the Plaka and there really were men playing the guitar in the street and just a general atmosphere of low chatter and a bit of mystery!

5. Who do you look up to more than anyone else?
My grandmother. She led the most extraordinary life; you couldn't make up what she did if you tried. She was the first practicing female doctor in Greece, she divorced her husband at a time that just wasn't done and raised my mother as a single parent during times of astounding strife and turmoil (the Nazi occupation, the civil war) in her home country. I'm giving you the real abridged version here, because her entire life was amazing, and she had a fantastic sense of humor and the mouth of a sailor. She passed away when I was eleven, and I wish I could know her now as an adult. As a baby, I was her favorite, heh.

Peace, Ghani
