Check out [livejournal.com profile] cleolina's Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince in Fifteen Minutes

My favorite bit:
The Burrow

LUPIN: NO THEY ARE NOT UP TO ANYTHING HARRY THAT IS RIDICULOUS WHY ARE YOU ALWAYS SO BITTER AND ANGRY????

TONKS: Sweetheart, I told you not to forget your Werewolf Midol.

...

LUPIN [sniffing]: SOMETHING IS AFOOT!

TONKS: MY MULLET SENSES IT AS WELL!

[And suddenly Bellatrix and Pedowolf are there but I guess they forgot to bring any Carrows or whatever and Harry bolts after her for great Sirius-killing justice and Bellatrix throws a circle of fire around the house so no one can go help him and Tonks and Lupin sort of dance around unsure of what to do, maybe we should try to go after him, I mean you know he is kind of the Chosen One and he gets a bit crazy over the whole Sirius thing, I don't know, my mullet is a bit concerned, well I don't know why it's concerned now, you weren't even watching him at the beginning of the movie like you were supposed to, look here, my screentime was given to Luna, you really can't blame me for that, and besides, fire is kind of hot and that is your nice jacket after all, I mean, werewolves don't bring in a lot of money, what are we going to do if you scorch it, yes but someone really ought to go out there and HOLY FUCKING SHIT IT'S GINNY FUCKING WEASLEY!]

Moe, the Tonks mullet! Hee! And, seriously, my sister and I laughed so hard when Tonks had to assure the Weasleys that Lupin's time of month was making him cranky and they were going to have to leave early. "The first night of the cycle's always the hardest." Yeah, tell me about it!

Name 5 dead characters you'd like to see resurrected. In no particular order:

1- Bail and Breha Organa, The Star Wars Saga: Yup, you get a two-for-the-price-of-one on this one, and I justify it by pointing out that they both (seemingly) went out the same way at the same time, when Alderaan was blown to itty bitty bits. I refuse to believe it. Bail and Breha evacuated before it happened and went into hiding only to reveal themselves to their adopted daughter after the Battle of Endor. Yup, uh huh. Exactly how it happened! And I'm discounting all of that EU nonsense because it's collapsing in on itself after all the retconning they've scrambled to do in wake of the PT.

2- Isaac Mendez, Heroes: But if you read my blog, you already knew this. I have to say, it was difficult choosing him or Nathan , but Isaac won it on the technicality with Nathan only sort of being dead seen in the season three finale. Isaac was just a fascinating character, and a different type to what now populates the Heroes universe; his powers were interesting and unique (until they explained them away when they gave them to Matt). And, let's face it, he was hot! On a side note, this entire list could be populated by Heroes characters: Isaac, Nathan, Niki, D.L. and Eden.

3- Alex, LOST: Alex, we barely knew ye! Which is an awful shame because you were one of the more sane and interesting female characters in a fandom with sadly far too few! She barely even got a much deserved reunion with her mother! Granted, the Island has sort of resurrected her at least once so far, but those are only weird Island ghosts so it doesn't count.

4- Tonks and Lupin, Harry Potter: See the loophole for including two characters as one with the first entry in this post. They are my HP OTP, a couple who overcame great odds, including their own personal demons and seemed just within the grasp of happiness. And then Rowling kills them off as a side note, without even the benefit of informing fans of who did the deed. Careless, Jo, uncharacteristically cold and careless.

5- Wash, Firefly/Serenity: He was killed off for the most unjustifiably stupid reason of all: so the audience felt unsure and unsafe as to who might be killed off next. His death made no practical sense (I understand the Reavers killing the pilot of a functioning vessel, that seems like perfect Reaver logic; what I don't understand is why, if they like their victims alive when they do... what they do to them, they'd kill someone when their ship is already very obviously in no way fit for flight) it hurt. It hurt real bad, and left a very bad taste in my mouth about the entire fandom. I know die-hards who dropped out because of it, and I can see where they're coming from, honestly.

The booby prize goes to Jean Grey, who has been killed off and resurrected more than Kenny on South Park. Yeah, well, Scott's doing just fine without you this time, sweetie, and Logan can do better. Just stay dead this time.

Huh?! Now why the heck wasn't any of this mentioned in that disaster of an epilogue?

Rowling Answers 10 Questions About Harry- Time Magazine

9. Where do the main characters work as adults?
Harry and Hermione are at the Ministry: he ends up leading the Auror department. Ron helps George at the joke shop and does very well. Ginny becomes a professional Quidditch player and then sportswriter for the Daily Prophet.

Me? I think I'm Luna (as a close Potter-obsessed friend used to call me Loony Lovegood) or Tonks. Ginny's close enough though.

I know, kinda crappy quality but I did it without Photoshop and the pic was kinda of bad to begin with. Anyone's free to use it if they want, just share the results with me, too! ;-)

Began to watch Hex last night and, what can I say? I'm totally addicted! I can see where the Buffy comparisons are coming from (you could almost match up characters from each show, such as Thelma/Willow, Azazeal/Angel, Roxanna/Cordelia etc.) but, unlike Buffy, I was rather pleased that Hex went with a more Biblically gothic storyline. While Joss Whedon's world is imaginative and unique, his ideas of heaven and hell, of demons, the product of a gleefully ingenius mind, I've always quite liked new takes in the modern world on biblical canonical material.

Hellblazer/Constantine, Hellboy, Millennium, X-Files, Sandman all tackled the same subject. Heck, all of them even include their own takes on Azazeal (sometimes Azazel) and the Nephilim. In the Millennium, he's portrayed as Samiel, an attractive young man, a fallen prophet who was sent with a warning. The name reappears in Hellboy, as a beast, playing with the "Hound of Resurrection" title. The others take on Azazeal full on.

But Hex takes it to a level of Gothic romance and horror which, I must say, with Buffy long gone and my DVD sets getting a bit tiresome, is really a delight. It's definitely my kind of tv!

On another front, dunno how to feel about the role of Bellatrix being recast from Helen McCrory to Helena Bonham Carter in the film adaptation of Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. Helena has too soft a face, an angelic Pre-Raphaelite face, whereas McCrory had that dark, sharp sort of look to her, the kind that would make you want to cross to the other side of the street if you were walking alone at night and found yourself walking towards her. Polly Walker was another early rumor and I think that's far more suited.

I remember Entertainment Weekly even named Helena its first choice to play Merope, Voldemort's woe-begotten mother, because of her large, sad eyes and tragically gothic look. Rather disappointed as Bellatrix is a favorite character of mine. It also seems like they're moving a bit too much towards the 'cast stars' trap that I was scared of from the beginning. Yes, the films have always had its share of heavyweights, but they were also concerned about casting the right person in other roles. To me, Helena's casting feels like, 'Well, she's very gothic, isn't she? Let's cast her, she'll be perfect!' instead of careful consideration of the character's personality and physical appearence.

On the Clive Cussler front, have started Atlantis Found, which is easily the best of the Dirk Pitt novels. It always makes me laugh that he has the most amazing knowledge of science, physics and archeology, and then is so inept with plot and characters, but they're fun, so who am I to argue? Gary Stu to the extreme but what a hoot to read!

And, yay, the second season of The Venture Bros. got off to a fantastic start! It's funny because my sister doesn't usually go for "low" humor, even when it's highbrow humor in disguise, but she's surprised me by absolutely falling in love with The Venture Bros.! Go figure! Wait until I introduce her to The Boondocks!

Angel
Dumbledore's daughter and Snape's One Twoo Wuvv

You are hauntingly beautiful in a familiar way, and
have a gift for Healing. You're good enough at
potions to have Snape intrigued. You have been
brought up as an orphan, and have never known
love. Your hair shimmers like autumn leaves,
even though autumn leaves do not shimmer.
Dumbledore himself does not know of your
existence, and you will go to Hogwarts seeking
your father, but will find love with a greasy
git instead. You will be the cause of Snapes
loyalty to the good cause. You will love
everyone you see, including Voldemort, which
will cause him to spontaneously combust, thus
making you the true saviour of the Wizarding
World. Then you will decide that you have had
enough excitement in life, drop your original
intentions and start making multiple Snapey
babies.
