My Day by Me

Went to see Bourne Ultimatum today, which was just a good idea all round; I'd been dying to go out and see a movie, we got there right after that goddamn 20 minute commercial theaters run now had ended and saw good previews. The movie was made of awesome and I understood watching it for the first time why, really, my sister love them; they're so much like the old Steve McQueen movies she adores, Bullit especially. The camera work, the case scenes and fights. I hadn't been crazy about the first two; I just never took to them the way my sister did, but I was totally into this one and want to watch the others again now desperately/ Needless to say, sis is overjoyed.
And, I must say, great previews! Stuff I never see ads for, like the new Ridley Scott with Russell Crowe and Denzel, or that weird thing with Joaquin and Mark Wahlberg as brothers on different sides of the law. Mind, nothing I'd probably ever go see in the theater but they were fun and exciting. And then there was the one for the new National Treaure so there was a Nic squee involved. And, as if i wasn't squee-y enough, on came a preview for Death sentance! Rock! Gaaaarrettt! Looking bald and scary, granted, but that's what I love about him: He looks like a freakin' God and is so talented and diverse to boot! Despite the wiseass in the audience who gave his opinion loudly after each trailer, nothing could have taken me off of cloud 9.
Now, if only I'd grow enough of a pair to go see Death sentance in the theater. Sis was willing before and trying to goad me into it, but I think is now squeamish after seeing the preview. James Wan = talent. And of all the supposed "splat pack", he has so much more range; I can't imagine, say Eli Roth making three such diverse movies as Saw, Dead Silence and Death Sentance.
So, good day all around, culminating in this discussion:
Sis: Do you find Matt Damon attractive?
Me: Yeeeeah, but in a different way. I find his personality attractive.
Sis: So, not physically at all? He's not your type.
Me: Well, physically because I find his personality attractive. It's not like I wouldn't fuck him in a second given the chance.
Sis: Well, of course. I think I'm too much like him to find him attractive. Same appeal as Steve McQueen, I suppose. I want to be them.
Beat.
Me: I want to be Geoffrey Rush.
Laughs.
Sis: That's good. And weird and scary, but true.
Peace, ghani

on 2007-08-18 04:46 pm (UTC)And Nic squee! Now I have to look up that trailer, LOL!
By the way... Guess what I did last night? I watched an episode of the new Doctor Who! I had been balking, mainly because Tom Baker is my Doctor, and no one can replace him for me. But... David Tennant is so fucking CUTE. So yeah, I'm gonna start watching it now. :D I want to catch up on the Chris E. episodes, too. And backtrack on all the David Tennant ones... I've got another TV watching project on my hands, I think. Hehe!
