Much stuffness
Feb. 29th, 2008 06:39 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
This post's been a long time in the making because I've been sick; I just kept coming back and adding little bits to it when I could make myself get up off the couch or out of bed. So, a collection of general meme weirdness.
From
dreamybritactor and
charleygirl:
Huh, I kinda thought I'd have gotten Gene, just 'cause I'm kinda gruff like he is, but I'm not disputing this outcome either.
From
shawnawitter:
Seriously? Damn, why do I always get the maternal figures? I thought at least I'd get Charlie; that's who I'd pick for myself, if not flat out Bella.
From
averysmallthing:
1. How old were you in 1980?
3
2. How old were you in 1989?
12
3. Were you a Toys R' US Kid?
Toy Town when I was young because we didn't have a Toys R Us near us yet, but, yeah, for most of my life, my dad took me there on weekends just to look around.
4. Did you watch Transformers?
No, but all my boy friends did. I did play with Transformers, sort of.
5. Did you see E.T. on the big screen?
I was too scared of E.T. My mom had to take me out of the theater.
6. Did you own a Lite Bright?
Nope, but my best friend did.
7. Who was your Favourite Golden Girl?
Sophia, 'cause she kind of reminded me of my Greek relatives.
8. What comes to mind when someone says "Who you gonna call?"
Ghostbusters!
9. What was your favourite toy(s)?
She-Ra for a time, Jem for another, but mostly Barbie.
10. Did you have a Pogo Ball?
That was that thing that was also strangely called the Balzac or something like that, wasn't it? No, I didn't; a friend did though and I could never balance well enough to actually use it.
11. Did you listen to New Kids on the Block?
Nope; I was into the indie music by that time, like Suzanne Vega. She was sooo deep.
12. What New Kid did you have a crush on?
Oh, we're assuming the answer to the above was yes?! Null and void.
13. Did you play M.A.S.H?
No, but i did play A-Team! That's kinda of like M.A.S.H, isn't it? I dunno, I think when I was young, it had been too recently on to show repeats and then I'd lost interest by the time the repeats started. Shrug.
14. Did you watch The Care Bears?
Oh, definitely!
15. Did you have jelly bracelets?
As many as an early Madonna video! (That's a yes)
16. Did you have a charm necklace and/or bracelet?
My charm necklace was my pride and joy for about half a school year. I had the most outrageous charms on it, like a toilet with a lid that opened and a roll of toilet paper...
17. Did you have a Glo Worm?
I can't remember why, but no. I remember asking for one, but I just never got one. Shrug.
18. Did you ever own a slap bracelet?
Oh God, yes! I loved those things!
19. The Breakfast Club or Sixteen Candles?
Sixteen Candles! Jake Ryan, I love you! I always thought Judd Nelson behaved like too much of an ass in The Breakfast Club; I hated him for it.
20. Did you have a crazy hair style?
Well, bleached and permed, side ponytail optional but not unusual. That seems rather common though.
21. What was your first bike?
It was pink with a big banana seat with white flowers on it. I never learned how to ride it two wheeled so it was also my last bike.
22. Name one thing you still own from your childhood?
A cruddy old stuffed animal named Gumdrop. He used to be pink. He's kinda brownish now... And my blankie ♥
23. Did you have a Cabbage Patch Kid?
Hell yes! My first, my parents bought illegally from our neighbor. My second, my mom waited on line for four hours to get.
24. Did you dress like Madonna?
Oh yes. In an innocent sort of way.
25. Rainbow Brite or Strawberry Shortcake?
Strawberry Shortcake when i was really young; had the bedsheets and everything! I was a fanatic! Rainbow Brite when I was just a bit older and not as intensely.
26. Did you watch Miami Vice?
Nope. Though the boy I had to walk down the aisle with at graduation dressed like Don Johnson, which kinda pissed me off because I had this big froo-froo dress on...Ahem.
27. Did you own a pair of jelly shoes?
Many. My friend even owned a pair that was rhinestone studded! Beat that for 80s!
28. Did you own a Trapper Keeper?
Always!
29. Atari or Nintendo?
I did play my brother's Atari when I was little and there were games I really liked but I felt like the Nintendo was really my system, you know? Super Mario Bros. 2 4-evah!
30. Did you play Pac-Man?
I sucked at it. The less said, the better. Ms. Pacman's better.
31. What movie scared you the most?
Dude, I was scared of everything (see: my answer to the E.T. in the theater question)! I had a hard enough time trying to avoid all the commercials for the slasher films, which scared the heck outta me! What scared me the most period? Probably the Thriller music video; I still have a bad reaction to it to this day!
32. Did you try to dance like Michael Jackson?
Most certainly!
33. What Is The First Thing That Comes To Mind When You Hear "Flux Capacitor"?
Christopher Lloyd's crazy-ass hair and Huey Lewis and the News
34. What other colours did Pepsi come in?
Did I miss something? I remember the cola wars but I don't remember different colors except for Clear Pepsi, which was the 90s, wasn't it?
35. Roger Rabbit or Howard the Duck?
Roger freakin' Rabbit. I saw that movie 12 times in the theater!
36. Did you ever beg your parents to have your school picture taken with the 'LASER' background?
Snort! Nah, our school didn't have stuff like that; they had allegedly "classy" bookcase backgrounds and the like.
37. Do you know what the Ninja Rap is?
Sadly, yes. But April wasn't the same actress in the second movie and I was disappointed, especially after the first one had a hint of some April/Casey action, oh yeah!
38. Do you know why people cringe when they hear the word BUCKNER?
Are we talking Pac Man Fever, or do I not know?
39. Can you name the family members from National Lampoons Vacation movies?
Okay, Clark, Russ, Audrey...Can't remember the wife's name...
40. Wally-World or Europe?
Europe.
41. What was your favourite movie from the 80's?
It's not fair to say The Empire Strikes Back because that says more about Star Wars than it does the 80s, so I'll go with Labyrinth.
In other good news, the guy who works at the library and conducted my sister's interview told her she should be "very optimistic" about getting the job, so yay! He was surprised she hadn't heard in the affirmative already!
And my sister's book T4 now has a publication date: September 22, two days before her 39th birthday! Double yay!
Peace, Ghani
