Snatched from [livejournal.com profile] riven_008: List 10 of your favorite characters from different fandoms, and ask people to spot patterns in your choices, and if they're so inclined, to draw conclusions about you based on the patterns they've spotted.

- Horatio Hornblower, Hornblower series
- Princess Leia Organa, Star Wars
- Rogue, X-Men
- Donna Noble, Doctor Who
- Elektra Natchios, Daredevil/Elektra
- Aeryn Sun, Farscape
- Darien Fawkes, Indivisible Man

From [livejournal.com profile] lastwordslinger: Name your 15 absolutely favorite couples (het/slash/canon/fanon) and ask people to see what trends they notice about your couples. Try to pick different fandoms.

- Han/Leia, Star Wars

From the characters that I recognize, I see a pattern of competent, kickass women. And of the pairings I recognize, you have some real epic ones. Even pairings that are sort of more background like Tonks/Lupin are ones that I would identify as really sweeping love stories.

Hehe, it scared me a bit when I realized what aggressive women I was picking! It's a definite change from my youth when Rogue and Eponine from Les Miz were the height of female characters for me (well, aside from the constant, Leia!)

And I am a hopeless romantic, I admit it! The sweeping ones always get to me!

1. I do indeed see a lot of kickass women on that list. (Yay Donna Noble!) But there's also Horatio, who's delightful complex too. And kickass too, in his way. I have to mention him or else he will brood.

2. I think you like couples that have had to go through a lot in order to be together, or at least a point in their relationship where they truly understand each other.

1. Oh, he would brood. And then wonder if it were perhaps on account of a deficiency on his part, such as the onset--however slight!--of hair loss or perhaps a simple disregard for his character. The poor neurotic sap! I noticed after I'd written it that most of the women were literally warriors--only one could be considered really a warrior of words (good ol' Daisy!) and that the men fell into a much more, er, cerebral category. Not that the women aren't smart, but it wasn't the first aspect that jumped out at you about them. This has changed a lot from my youth when it would have been all pretty much a maudlin sort, sort of in tune with Rogue, like Eponine from Les Miz and other downtrodden. I see this as a step forward!

2. And some of them, poor ducks, define the phrase 'Death Do Us Part,' alas! I'm sort of morbid that way, but that highlights the trials you mention!

(Your icon makes me GUH everytime!)

As far as the characters go, STRENGTH! Not just any strength, but kick-you-in-the-face-with-POWAH strength. That is DEFINITELY a trend I see there, hehe!

With the couples, again with the strong ladies and the men that worship them, lol! They're strong men, too, in some cases. But pretty much across the board, they are humbled by the love they have for these formidable women. Just my opinion. ;)

It's interesting because in retrospect I almost feel guilty for picking so many women who are just so damned powerful, lol! Because that's the aspect of them that stands out, even if I admire their brain power as well. And that the men I picked are all of a rather cerebral sort (even if they, on occasion, kick ass as well ;-))! The socially awkward are sadly lacking in representation and for that I'm truly sorry for--I keep wondering if i should have swapped this person for that and there are some of my favorites who just didn't make the cut, like Sikozu from Farscape--perverse, socially awkward and practical to a fault--or Eponine from Les Miz--so very, very sad, she, along with Rogue, represented all of my teenage angst and desire to be loved!

But maybe I'm just ready to kick major ass, mwahahahahaha!

And you know that I do love men who like a strong dame--who search that relationship out, actually! But without emasculating the man--that's definitely important! Men who are in awe--Ghani's ultimate fantasy, lol!

Characters?

Lost = Jack
Star Trek = Kirk
Star Wars = Han
Hornblower = Horatio
Aubrey/Maturin = Jack
LOTR = Aragorn
Harry Potter = Harry
X Men = Wolverine
X-Files = Scully

Yeah, I think I know what this says about me, even though I had to go and pick a woman there at the last minute. :)

Don't go in for the romantic pairings much.

Well, you definitely go for the alphas and I think Scully kind of fits the bill! :-D
