Cheers to everyone who particpated in Blog Like It's the End of the World, and especially to averysmallthing, whom I found it through yesterday.

So, other news. Well, my sister didn't get the job, the one she would have actually have liked to have gotten, and now she's depressed because she's scared if she can't get that job at the library, which she's even over qualified for and she knows so much about every type of literature, that no one in town is going to hire her because she's deaf. Unfortunately, her fears are not unfounded. It just makes me so angry! I can't imagine there were any two people (yes two positions!) who were more qualified than her.

On top of all that, she has an 85 year old man stalking her. That may sound hilarious, but he's actually really scary and I don't know what's going to happen with that 0_o

Some good news: The Ghost Rider Extended Cut is made of pure awesomeness. More on that when I've more time to blog and better circumstances under which to do so.

And now some lyrics 'cos I'm feeling particularly in the mood for these. Man, would I like to dedicate this to everyone who worked so freakin' hard to mess up my life, starting with my parents, who I forgive because I'd do anything to have them back with me, to all those school administrators and psychiatrists and physicians who screwed me over.

I didn't participate, because I didn't figure it out until it was too late, lol. But next year, I am so there! That looks like it was a ton of fun.

I hate that your sister is being overlooked because of something that... honestly... does not affect job performance. You'd think they'd be falling all over themselves to hire her BECAUSE she has a handicap. It would make them look all "equal opportunity". On the one hand, such a huge deal is made out of giving everyone a chance to have jobs like this. And yet you still hear about tons of people that get shoved aside because of their handicaps or race or sexual preferences. I just wish they'd make up their mind! Do you want everyone to work or do you want to discriminate? Make a decision and stick to it at the very least!

GHOST RIDER!!!! I got the extended cut, too! There's more Barton! More Roxanne! More GOPCGR! And little more Nic, too. So I'm a very happy Bonehead. :p I still need to watch the extras, though.

Sorry about your sister. Where I work, we have such huge diversity, including a deaf woman, and I just can't imagine anyone having a problem with someone just because they're deaf. And hell, we're a bookstore. If we can hire a deaf woman, I think a library can, too.

Things in Gainesville are weird and different. She couldn't even get a job as a page at the library. She's looking into the bookstore next so, fingers crossed! :-)

I'm sorry to read about your sister getting passed over for two jobs because of her disability. As I'm starting to find out, we're stuck in a society that continues to look down upon those who aren't considered "able" (oh yeah? Able in what way? And by whose effing criteria?). It almost seems like we all might be forced by law to walk around with scarlet "D's" on our foreheads, just to let everyone know there's...something not right about us...ooh, booga, booga! *sarcasm fully intended*

Hopefully she'll come up with something soon.

It contantly amazes me--although it shouldn't anymore--how they treat her, like she's a retard (and I'm intentionally using the offensive term in this instance). They kind of just stare like they don't understand a thing she's saying or doing and speak slowly when they do talk and, well, end up looking like the world's biggest retards themselves.

The world is full of morons, and I guess it's particularly frightening because there's a feeling that things are opening up so much more and in some regard they are, but there is still so much ignorance a supposedly open person can harbor about common "disabilities."
