Stuffy stuff

So, I was in the shower last night when the power went off, yikes! Absolutely no natural light comes into the bathroom, and it's like this weird suddenly sense-deprivation, except that the water keeps running and that becomes confusing after a minute, too. Because no one's really making such a big deal out of Ida (it's already weakened to a tropical depression), I guess it just didn't occur to me that we'd be getting some bad storms in its spin-off. But we sure got one last night and it seems like today is going to be an on and off deal, which is cool with me so long as the power doesn't go out again (it was restored really quickly last night, I just worry about being electrocuted because they tell you not to run water during electrical storms and I do tend to get shocks off of the tap whenever there's a storm coming!)
My sister got me a gift certificate for Amazon for my birthday and the first batch of stuff just arrived today, hooray! I got me the first and second seasons of The IT Crowd as well as Birds of Prey The Complete Series and Brisingr by Christopher Paolini, score! BoP made me laugh because the box says something like, 'Some music differs from music in the aired version.' All the music differs, mate! Even the important stuff, like the theme or the tATu song they used in the last episode! Shakes head, Warner Brothers likes to do that; they removed almost all of the Loreena McKennitt stuff from ROAR, though they were at least not stupid enough to cut it even from the episode where it's central like they did with some of BoP. But I complain when I'm happy, so I should stop! xP
Peace, Ghani

on 2009-11-11 10:14 pm (UTC)Luckily the power has stayed on; today, it's just been rainy on and off, kind of dreary and blech. But Ann's got today off because she's a civil servant, yay! And we're sitting around, watching Up (which is a trial and half and deserves its own post--not the movie, but the copy we got).
Ann's decided our cat is Old Gregg. Now, every time she meows, I say "I'm Old Gregg! Would ya like some Bailey's?" Or "I've got a mangina!" Totally off subject, just thought it was funny, ha!

on 2009-11-11 10:27 pm (UTC)UP is kind of the most depressing movie I've seen in a long time. I went to see that in the theater and cried through most of it. So MISTAKE, Hehe!
OLD GREGG! That's hilarious!

on 2009-11-12 01:12 am (UTC)The annoying thing was... you know how they make rental DVDs now without the special features so you'll go out and buy it? Yeah, well, they removed the DVD menu entirely, I guess they didn't think you'd need it, but the thing is that there are some DVDs where you can only turn on the subtitles from the menu. And this was one. So Ann didn't see it with words, I had to tell her what was going on. Sighs.
So, I'm sobbing and then trying to relate the dialogue to Ann... not the easiest thing! xP
"Wanna go to a club where people wee on each other?" That one makes Ann almost wee herself, heh! "I'm Old Gregg!"
