So. We ended up not going to the Hoggetowne Medieval Faire yesterday for the second year after getting there by hook or by crook for I think it was twelve years consecutively beforehand. Which means I didn't see [livejournal.com profile] aragornslove or get my fortune read for free by one of my sister's coworkers, or just generally revel in the glorious atmosphere. But, more than that, it's made me start thinking about my own state of mind in the past two years. I can make excuses, and they wouldn't be untrue, about having been sick yesterday not having the spare cash, or point out that my regular medieval faire buddy moved away two years ago. But in past years, I've literally gotten up out of my sick bed after two weeks of being bed ridden to go at least for an hour on the last day.

This leads me to examine more closely how my agoraphobia's been going through a particular rough patch: even the things I'm supposed to enjoy, that I know won't come around for another year, feel, not only like a chore, but actually are a frightening proposition. But hasn't it been this bad in the past? I suppose it has, but situations have changed (drastically, in some cases) as well. I dunno.

On the upside, I've finally gotten my sister completely addicted to True Blood, kick ass! She resisted for a long time, but I was sneaky, heh, and when they showed the first season over New Years week, I was sort of subtly putting it on until I was her start to pay attention and get interested. We watched the second season on On Demand over the weekend and she now knows the excellence that is Godric's storyline. Hearts!

Don't actually have that many pictures this year, but I think it's pretty safe to say that a good time was had by all. Attended this year, as with last, with [livejournal.com profile] picklepopiscle, this time with her s.o. added to the mix (who was, rightly so, convinced that it was a total geek fest, heh!)

We, of course, sat for the second round of living chess, a tradition that must not be missed! The theme this year was King arthur again and they went a very Clive Owen King Arthur-y way, which I was actually surprised they hadn't previously, when the movie had just come out! Our Lancelot was hardly Ioan Gruffudd but you can't expect perfection every time, can you? ;-)

The day (Saturday) started out GORGEOUS, a lucky thing as Sunday was crap and it looks to be worse this weekend, slowly got dark and then a bit drizzly but that didn't dampen my spirits!

My three worthwile piccies under the cut: )

Back from the last day of the lovely Hoggetowne Medieval Faire. Snapped off lots of photos today, especially of my lurvely elf ears, which I got done at a booth there! We saw Faire Wynds for the third time and still didn't see the son perform though we were able to talk for a minute to the duaghter, who walks on a ladder of swords, and tell her that she was our favorite in the act and compliment them in general.

We tried the Thai food booth for the first time and it was deee-licious! Alas, no Beefy Balls or "Fajita's". Fajita's what, one must wonder?

And so wraps up another year of mirth and merriment; onwards 2006. Completely exhausted now. Going to go veg out in front of tv whilst avoiding the superbowl now...

Well, just got back from a day at the fair with me family ([livejournal.com profile] laughingravy, [livejournal.com profile] risyfellowes) and friend ([livejournal.com profile] picklepopsicle). What a lovely day it turned oput to be; threatened rain early on but, depsite a lot of shoe-sucking mud, nary a drop in sight. As a matter of fact, it turned into a beautiful day and I only started to get the shivers in my costume when we were about to leave (when the sun was going down).

Saw Faire Wynds again, still did not catch their son doing his bed of pain trick (grrr!) AND the head leader guy couldn't do his fire trickery cos it was too windy (grrr, once more!). Watched the Rat Catcher after that, funny act, he pretends to beat inanimate rats and makes jokes that would be bawdy about 30 years ago. But it was fun and funny! Especially when his belt broke and his pants almost fell down, though I don't think he thought that was as funny as we did.

At this time, myself and [livejournal.com profile] picklepopsicle realised that we were missing [livejournal.com profile] laughingravy and [livejournal.com profile] riskyfellowes, so we met up with them and took in the market place (a cat o' the nine tails and some leather bondage cuffs; won't tell ya who bought what but, there ya go!) and then it was off to the last Living Chessboard match of the day, which was appropriately rowdy. I lost my voice chanting 'blood makes the grass grow, kill, kill, kill!' and other such annual standards.

And then [livejournal.com profile] riskyfellowes braved the Beefy Balls stand! Yes, he ordered, he ate two beefy balls and we got numerous pictures to confirm this, heeheehee!

Tired now. Walk the dog and put on a movie and then call it a night!

Well, not the first day of the fair itself, that was yesterday but since its a school day and all the snot-nosed brats, I mean, cuddly little angels are about, the "true" faire goer waits until the weekend.

Got up early (for me) this morning, around 9:30; actual faire arrival time: 11:05. We walked in to see the first part of what is now a three act living chessboard match (my favorite part, I must admit, of the faire); this year's theme is back to Robin Hood and I was glad to see a man in tights and feathered hat. Honestly, I do like it when they get creative but the classics are always the best! Hoping to catch the other two parts either tomorrow or next weekend.

Well, we walked, we talked, my sis snapped a couple of pics of me (I was looking quite snazzy today and proving that you don't need a bodice for maximum cleavage, heh!). We ate -I had Dominoes pizza, not very faire-y but it was good. Will try one of the local booths the next couple of times I go.

And we saw Faire Wynds, for my money the best faire act I've seen in ages. A family (though the son wasn't there yet but I saw his act last year with the bed of nails and their daughter was who I hadn't seen so: goodness. Their daughter's one of only four sword walkers in the country and one of only two that will go back down the ladder of blades after walking up it. It's impressive, trust me!

Got my tarot read and the woman couldn't have been more eerily accurate! She told me I'm involved in the arts somehow (my writing) and that I take much pride in it and that it will pay off soon! The cards were very clear. I ended up with FOUR Arcana and no word on the business or social front which I explained to her afterwards, as she was semi-taken aback by it, that I was, in fact, agoraphobic. The cards told of my past trials conquered, that I have insomnia and worry over those I love who have passed away recently, that I think of myself as caring loyal and steady and that my friends see that I am improving as a person day by day! My top card was the Magician, which spoke of deep spirituality and a little of everything mentioned; she mentioned that I may be able to "perceive" moreso than others without knowing how deeply I'm into both Wicca and the study of parapsychology! The whole thing just clicked!

Lovely day, today!

Peace, Ghani
